Homeless Diversion

Diversion is a strategy that prevents homelessness for people seeking shelter by helping them identify immediate alternate housing arrangements an if necessary, connecting them with services and financial assistance to help them return to permanent housing.

Families in the White and Habersham area who are newly homeless and seeking shelter can receive assistance through the Project Promise Diversion Program. They can receive help to identify housing or placement options to avoid entering the homeless shelter system. This includes areas such as landlord mediation, conflict resolution, housing deposit assistance, budgeting, credit advice and more. This "rapid rehousing" reduces the need/demand for temporary shelter beds in the community.
